New $15bln high-speed railway planned to connect Singapore and Malaysia

On Tuesday, the leaders of Singapore and Malaysia signed an agreement on the construction of a high-speed railway between the two countries.

The railway with the length of 350 kilometers will connect Malaysia’s capital city of Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. At the same time, a bridge is planned to be constructed across the Straits of Johore.

As a reference, the Straits of Johore is an international strait located in Southeast Asia, between Singapore and mainland Malaysia.

An exact price of the project has not been revealed yet. Experts forecast that the cost might reach as much as $15 billion.

The railroad construction is scheduled for the year 2026.
