Rosatom State Energy Corporation will participate in gathering offers for nuclear plant construction in South Africa.




“Request for information, which was published by Escom in South Africa, demonstrates the country's commitment to implementing the national nuclear program. Rosatom state corporation confirms its interest to participate in the request” – Interfax news agency reports on Wednesday, citing the company’s message.

Earlier, South Africa declared RFI (request for information, what means collecting offers). As it was reported last week, South African power company Eskom announced plans to start collecting offers to build six nuclear reactors in the country.

In mid-October, the presidents of Russia and South Africa discussed cooperation in nuclear energy. Before that, the head of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev said that he expected that the question of the date of a tender for the NPP construction would be clarified during the meeting of the presidents of the Russian Federation and South Africa on the sidelines of the BRICS summit.
