The oldest stone mosque in the Krasnoyarsk region located in the Siberian Federal District, has been put in operation following the restoration in the town of Yeniseysk, the official website of the regional authorities reports on Monday.
A construction permit was issued as early as the year 1892, the building was completed in 1905. After the Russian revolution in 1917, the mosque was partially destroyed and afterwards it housed woodworking manufacture, the message reads.
Restoration of the mosque was carried out within the framework of a program on the reconditioning of historic and architectural monuments in Yeniseysk in celebration of the 400-year anniversary of the town’s foundation.
A total number of 22 building, including religious institutions, are planned to be renovated.
