Gazprom to purchase 12,8 bcm of gas from Kazakhstan

Gazprom, a Russian gas giant, and KazMunayGas, the state-owned oil and gas company of Kazakhstan, have agreed a volume of supplies of Kazakh gas for the period of the year 2017.




According to a message released by KazMunayGas following the negotiations held by the companies in Astana, the agreed amount totals some 12,8 billion cubic meters of gas.

The Kazakh company stressed that the agreement reached with Gazprom on gas export to Russia is strategically valuable.

As a reference, in 2015, Gazprom purchased 19,2 billion cubic meters of gas from Central Asia for deliveries in Europe, what is 25% less than the figure in 2014 (25,5 billion cubic meters of gas). At the same time, volume of gas purchase in Kazakhstan increased by 15,6% in the year 2015.
