France to fully switch to renewable energy by 2050

By the year 2050, France will be capable to meet 100% of its energy demand by means of renewable energy sources, Le Monde writes with the reference to estimated made by Negawatt think-tank.

“If just several years ago, the chosen directions seemed to be bold, now they are substantiated with a progress of technologies of alternative energy,” Deputy Head of Experts’ Association, Thierry Salomon, announced.

The experts consider their forecast to be accomplishable under the condition that two basic principles are achieved: consumption economy and an increase in energy efficiency in transportation and housing. This would allow to reduce twofold electricity consumption by the year 2050.
