President of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, held a meeting today with Chairman of Board of Directors of Mir Holding and Design Group, Ibrahim Mirmakhmutogullary from Turkey.

The Turkish counterpart made a short presentation of a project for the creation of the largest greenhouse production facility on the territory of Tatarstan. The investment project envisages a stage-by-stage expansion of a facility producing fresh vegetables and fruit in the area of 1250 hectares over the course of several years.

Ibrahim Mirmakhmutogullary invited the President of Tatarstan to inspect the company’s greenhouse complex in Turkey, within the framework of Minnikhanov’s upcoming visit to the country.

The Turkish company first proposed this project to the Tatar authorities as early as April 2015. A total amount of investments was estimated then at $2,3 billion. However, in December 2015, Alabuga Special Economic Zone postponed the project implementation due to increased political tensions between Russia and Turkey and sanctions that followed them.
