Ukrainian President signs decree on neutralizing threats to country’s energy security

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed a decree on neutralizing threats to the country’s energy security on a basis of a decision adopted by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, according to the official presidential website.




As specified in the document, the Ukrainian government was assigned to “take comprehensive measures on neutralizing threats to energy security of the country,” including the development of a project for power units’ reconstruction at thermal power plants and combined heat and power plants for the usage of a gas category coal produced in Ukraine.

Also, the government was tasked to “take comprehensive measures on the diversification of sources of coal supplies in Ukraine and the generation of steam coal reserve,” as well as “temporary, until the energy crisis is overcome, to ensure the termination of export from Ukraine of fossil anthracite coal.”
