Russian and foreign scientists will conduct in Moscow a series of biomedical experiments simulating manned flight to the planets of the Solar system, the press office of the Institute of Biomedical Issues affiliated with the Russian Academy of Sciences announced.

“Within the framework of the SIRIUS project, long-term manned space missions will be simulated to study problems related to exclusion and restriction of personal environment. This includes the study of medical, biological and psychological problems that may occur during long-term flights”, — the message reads.

The name “SIRIUS” stands for “scientific research in a unique ground-based complex”. The project will be implemented over a number of years in a Land-based medical and technology experimental complex of the Institute. A key aspect of this collaboration is the involvement of researchers from around the world.
