China completes construction of military facilities on islands in South China Sea

China has almost completed the construction of military and dual-use objects on the disputed islands in the South China Sea, according to the report of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in the USA (CSIS) titled “Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative.”

The sea and air bases, radar systems, as well as defensive facilities are located on Spratly archipelago, according to satellite images taken on the 9th, 11th and 14th of March this year.

The report also noted that China built there a shelter with protection from weapons with retractable roofs for mobile missile launchers.

Construction of hangars capable to accommodate up to 24 combat aircrafts in each is almost completed on the islands.
