The majority of the United States’ citizens oppose the construction of a wall on the border with Mexico at the expense of the U.S. budget, according to a survey conducted by the public opinion research center NORC jointly with the Associated Press (AP).
Thus, 58% of the respondents are against financing the construction at the expense of American taxpayers. Only 28% of respondents agreed with such option. AP recalls that, at present, the Republican and Democratic parties debate about the sources of funding for this project.
During the election campaign, the US president Donald Trump has repeatedly talked about the need to build a wall on the border with Mexico to combat illegal immigration. However, he noted that the work should be funded by Mexico.
