Spanish Zara sets up production of its brand clothes in Russia

Zara, a Spanish retailer owned by Inditex Group, has signed a contract for the production of its clothes in Russia, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Viktor Evtukhov, told reporters on Thursday.

“They have signed two contracts: for Zara Home and for manufacture of clothes”, he said.

Viktor Evtukhov also noted that in 2017 the company planned to increase the number of products produced on the territory of Russia. “In 2017, they plan to sell about one million products produced in our country,” he specified.

At that, Zara plans to expand the pool of Russian partners and in the near future will test Russian enterprises. “In the near future, the experts will come from the head office in Spain and they will test our enterprises. We have provided a list of (companies – editor’s note), they will select what they need, and the volume of contacts will grow,” – the Deputy Minister noted.

According to him, the expansion of foreign brands production in Russia is a multifaceted process, in particular, the desire of local producers to work for contract manufacturing is crucial.
