Gazprom and Petrobangla signed a contract for the construction of two exploratory wells on the island of Bhola in southern Bangladesh, as it follows from a report of the Russian gas holding company following a meeting between the head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, and Foreign Affairs Minister of Bangladesh, Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali.

The participants of the meeting discussed possibilities of development of cooperation in the field of search, exploration and development of oil and gas.

In 2013, the Russian gas giant built 15 exploration and production wells at seven fields in Bangladesh.

The main Gazprom’s partner in Bangladesh is Petrobangla, the state corporation of oil, gas and mineral resources.
