The government of Latvia decided not to support the participation of the port of Ventspils in the construction of Nord Stream 2 pipeline, LETA informs.
This decision was made this week at the Cabinet’s closed meeting. The Latvian government will not support any activities in the territory of Latvia, if they are related to Nord Stream 2 project.
Latvian officials came to such conclusion on a basis of reports developed by the Defense Ministry and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, as well as taking into account the recommendations given by the country’s security services.
The government has instructed the Ministries of Finance, Communications and Regional Development to ensure that the representatives of the Cabinet in the Board of Ventspils Free Port vote against any participation of the port in Nord Stream 2 project.
