The project of a 6-kilometer bridge connecting Sakhalin island with the Khabarovsk region can be estimated in an amount that considerably exceeds the cost of the Crimean bridge.
Kommersant newspaper reported on Wednesday, referring to the Russian Railways, that the cost of the Sakhalin bridge will be around 540 billion rubles without VAT and not including additional expenses for the modernization of Sakhalin infrastructure. The construction of the bridge itself will require 252 billion rubles, while the rest of the amount will be used to build a branch from Komsomolsk-on-Amur to Cape Lazarev.
Moreover, these calculations are approximate and not final. An additional 90 billion rubles can be spent on the railway modernization on the island and 100 billion rubles more will be required to implement the project of the deep-water terminal in Ilinsky.
