On the 22nd of January, 2017, the Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities of Russia, Mikhail Menn, was elected a member of the General Council of United Russia, the ruling and largest political party of the Russian Federation.

The elections were held at the XVI Congress of United Russia in Moscow. After that, Mikhail Menn made a statement for the press:

“This will strengthen the efforts of our Ministry, because the deputies of the most numerous party in the Parliament will provide us with true understanding of regional problems, which tackles our Ministry. Apart from that, it is an open secret that during the electoral campaigns most of the inquiries submitted to deputies relate to housing and utilities issues. I believe that this synergism of two branches of government might have a positive effect,” the Minister said.

Also, the Head of the Construction Ministry noted that since the end of the last year, a priority project entitled “Housing, Utilities and Urban Environment” had been implemented jointly with United Russia. Thanks to the party’s efforts, additional 5 billion rubles were allocated for the improvement of Russian cities.
