After the laying of an energy bridge from the Krasnodar region to Crimea and the construction of two large thermal power stations, it will be possible to deliver electrical energy from Crimea to Ukraine, if necessary.
The Director General of “Crymenergo”, Victor Plakida, spoke about this on the “Russia Today” radio station. According to him, the construction of the energy bridge is in full swing, both from the Krasnodar region’s side and from the Crimean side. Substations and high-voltage electric lines are now being built. Another unit of the Rostov NPP is planned to be put into operation to create additional capacity for the flow to Crimea.
The first stage of the energy bridge construction (400 MW cables on the bottom of the strait) will be completed in December. Design and surveying work for the construction of large thermal power stations in the Simferopol and Sevastopol suburbs are being carried out simultaneously.
To remind you, Crimea is now 70% dependent on the delivery of electric power from Ukraine. The region is lacking 880MW of power.
