On Thursday, archeologists discovered an ancient treasure of silver coins from the 17th century at the Kerch Bridge construction site. The finding was made at the future road approach to the Crimean Bridge in Taman.
The treasure will be handed over to experts who will examine it, the Crimean Bridge information center told Construction.ru. The coins might have possibly belonged to a looted merchant vessel.
The treasure, with a total weight of 300 g, was found on the outskirts of a village from the 17th or 18th century, dug up by the archeologists.
Specialists have explored 19 hectares of ancient settlements and cemeteries on the Taman Peninsula. A large number of precious findings have been handed over to Taman museums.
