This week, Mayor of London, Sidiq Khan gave the green light to the construction projects of three crossings, including a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists, a cross-river light rail link and a major road tunnel, City Lab reports.
This move was intended to ease traffic congestion and improve area connection. However, this measure has been criticized by a number of experts, who have called it a “betrayal” of Mayor’s promises to clean up London’s dirty air.
A the same time, residents of east London, will be apparently pleased to know that a second four-lane crossing is planned to be built in Silvertown.
Earlier this week, Sidiq Khan said that the £1bn tunnel project would be realized and would have a “greener focus” than it was planned.
