The Finnish Fortum energy holding started the construction of the first in Russia WPP. It will be located in the Ulianovsk region, the regional press office reports.
"The pilot project includes the construction of the WPP with the capacity of 35 MW. The Ulianovsk authorities are responsible for the development of the proper land plots and infrastructure, as well as wind investigations and measurement.
The total investment is not announced. Earlier, it was mentioned that the WPP construction in the Ulianovsk region will need €65m.
According to Sergei Morozov, the Ulianovsk region governor, the project implementation will result in the growth of the renewable energy use by 20-30% in the total supply-demand balance of the region. And it may become a serious growing point for the regional economy.
The Fortum holding works in the countries of Northern Europe and Baltic states, Poland and Russia.
