The Ballet Director of the Bolshoi in Moscow is now Makharbek Vaziev. As was specially stressed by the theater’s press office, he is a very well-known dancer and choreographer, having formerly headed the ballet company at the Mariinsky Theater and ‘La Scala’.
At the end of last season, it became known that the contract with ballet master Sergei Filin, due to end March 2016, won’t be prolonged. This is the why the position of the art instructor will be cancelled, and instead a ballet director will be appointed at the Bolshoi.
