Why Russia and Iran have introduced a simplified visa regime from 6th of February

Within the framework of the visit by Iran’s supreme leader’s councellor, Ali-Akbar Velayati, to Moscow, the decision has been made to introduce a simplified visa regime for the citizens of both countries from February 6th.

The eminent Iranian guest told reporters about it in the capital of Russia, following negotiations with the Russian authorities’ representatives. In addition, he placed strong emphasis on the fact that Iran and Russia are starting to implement $40 bln contracts.

They concern the construction of the second and the third phases of nuclear reactors, power stations, railway networks and power production units. Besides this, the parties intend to strengthen cooperation dramatically in the tourism sector, including the lifting of visa requirements.
