The board director of the “Avtodor” state corporation, Sergey Kelbach, has announced the date of the M11 Moscow-Saint Petersburg motorway’s opening. According to the company’s representative, it will be put into operation by World Cup 2018.

Mr Kelbach made his statement at the Expo Build Russia 2016, held in the Russian city of Еkaterinburg. The M11 will be 669 km long, and the traffic will be able to drive at speeds of up to 130 km/hr.

The number of lanes is going to differ – from 10 in the Moscow region to 8 closer to Saint Petersburg, and from 6 to 4 at other sections. At night, the motorway’s entire length will be illuminated and the traffic flow will be separated by cement dividers.

According to Mr Kelbach, a modern “Don” motorway, i.e. the M4, will have been fully completed by 2020. The road will connect Moscow, Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar and Novorossiysk.
