Russian nuclear energy corporation Rosatom has obtained a license for the construction site of Rooppur power plant in Bangladesh, reports Neftegaz.ru on Monday.
Procedure of license acquisition is one of the mandatory conditions for the contract to come into effect.
First concrete placement in Rooppur power plant is expected to be carried out in summer 2017. According to the preliminary data, two power units of the facility are scheduled to be commissioned in 2022 – 2023.
Contracting of the construction works of Rooppur power plant is implemented in accordance with the intergovernmental agreement between Bangladesh and Russia of 2011.
In January, 2013 Russia made a decision to grant a $500 m concessional loan to Banglsdesh.
A building contract within the project of Rooppur power plant construction was signed in 2013. The contract price totals over $300 m.
