Iran receives €2,2 bln loan from Russia to build thermal power plant

Russia is going to grant a state export credit to Iran in order to finance construction of the units of a thermal power plant in the Islamic Republic.




The loan amount totals €1,2 bln, the statement of the Russian Government's press office says.

The borrowed funds will be used by the Iranian party to cover 85% of the TPP construction cost.

Another €1 bln credit will be allotted to ensure electrification of 495 km long Garmsar - Ince-Burun railway line. The total length of the section amounts to 495 km, including 203 km of the mountainous area. According to the plan, 32 stations and 95 tunnels are to be electrified, as well as seven traction substations and eleven section pillars will be erected.
