Former shareholders of OJSC Yukos Oil Company abandoned claim on a land plot in Paris owned by Russia, where a cultural center is under construction, Head of the International Legal Protection Center, Andrey Kondakov, said on Monday.
The construction site is located near Eifel Tower. Kondakov pointed out that this decision would enable to complete this “very important project” according to schedule.
“It was one of the high-profile cases. It attract attention of the public and the press. Yukos lawyers repeatedly announced their intention to persistently search for and seize Russia’s assets in France, and even put emphasis on their readiness to seize the church. They received a court ruling for the construction suspension and simultaneously seized the land plot, where the building activity is underway”, - reminded Kondakov.
