The new area planning scheme of the Russian Federation in the energy sector settles the date of construction of a nuclear power plant in south Urals, Russia.




The facility is scheduled to be erected by year 2030.

According to the new scheme, published on Tuesday on the website of the Russian government, construction of a modern NPP will let to make up a deficit of power balance in the Russian region of Chelyabinsk.

A planned capacity of the facility will amount to 1200 MW, when one power unit is put into operation.

As a reference, earlier, construction of a nuclear power plant with three power units with reactors of BN-1200 type had been planned.

Admittedly, the construction site will be located near Ozyorsk residential area.
