South Korea's Lotte Group’s vice chairman, Lee In-won, allegedly committed suicide just hours before the businessman was to be interrogated over the corruption case, BBC reports.

According to the police, the 69-year-old Mr Lee left a suicide note in his automobile.

On the 25th of August, the company’s senior executive was due to be questioned in a probe into a possible slush fund and financial irregularities in Lotte Group, which owns a variety of businesses, including hotels and chemical enterprises.

Lotte Group’s offices were searched by approximately 200 policemen in June over the corruption case involving charges with a slush fund and breaches of trust regarding transactions.
