Over the course of his scuba diving session into the Mariana Trench, a famous Russian explorer, Fyodor Konyukhov, decided to install an 11-kilometer Orthodox Christian Cross made of limestone from the Paleozoic.

For this purpose, the slab of milestone has been carved on the coastline of the Msta River in the Novgorod region. This milestone with dimensions of 1 x 0,5m was formed about 360m years ago. The Cross was customized in a workshop of a famous Russian jeweler and stonecutter, Vladimir Mikhailov.

This art work is to be installed in the deepest place of the Pacific Ocean, approximately 10 994 m below sea level, over the course of another extremal expedition carried out by Fyodor Konyukhov.
