Israel’s largest 500 MW solar power plant will emerge in the southern Negev desert, a tender for construction of the facility is already under consideration, Haaretz reports on Monday.
According to Israeli Finance Ministry, the solar power plant’s dimensions are expected to be “unprecedented” for the country and the facility will occupy approximately six square kilometers of land near the town of Dimona.
The project is to be implemented within the framework of a public private partnership. Meanwhile, it isn’t clear yet, whether the plant will consist of a single power station or a number of smaller ones.
