Rocket Lab, a joint space company of the USA and New Zealand, announced completion of construction of the world's first private cosmodrome, Space.com reports on Tuesday. The facility is located on the territory of New Zealand.

Construction of the first launching site started in December 2015. On Monday, Rocket Lab announced that the construction work was over. The company plans to exploit the complex to launch its Electron launch vehicles, which will lift small satellites and cargoes in an orbit. The first test launches are scheduled for as early as this year.

The company considers remote location of the cosmodrome to be an advantage, since this allows to reach the highest frequency of launches throughout history.
