Building of a high-speed railway line in India running along the route of Mumbai – Ahmedabad will start in the year 2017, the Indian Railways state corporation’s representative announced, RIA Novosti reports.
As it was reported earlier, the railway line construction was scheduled to be launched in 2018.
Meanwhile, some issues haven’t been resolved so far, such as allotment of the land for railway construction. The first train is expected to be launched on the new railway in 2023.
In December last year, India and Japan signed an agreement over Mumbai – Ahmedabad high-speed train. Tokyo offered to finance the project by 81% of its initial cost, having granted loans for the period of 50 years.
