Leroy Merlin opens $23m hypermarket in Russian city of Kirov

On Thursday, Leroy Merlin opened its first hypermarket in the Russian city of Kirov. The amount of investments in the project totaled over 1,5 billion rubles ($23 million), the press office of the Kirov regional government announced today.




“The head of the region took part in an official opening ceremony at the first Leroy Merlin hypermarket in Kirov… It has become the 56th company’s store on the territory of Russia. At the same time, its construction was completed less than for a year,” the statement reads.

The press office also pointed out that opening of a new hypermarket will create over 200 jobs for Kirov residents.

A total area of the store amounts to 18,000 square meters, its assortment includes 32,000 items of goods with preference given to domestically manufactured products.
