Second launch site for Angara rocket considered for Plesetsk Cosmodrome

Russian rocket-and-space industry and the Defense Ministry will develop Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region of Russia, a deputy director general of TsENKI federal state unitary enterprise, Igor Barmin, said at a press conference “Cosmonautics of XXI century” on Tuesday.

“No doubt that there will be a new general-purpose assembly and testing facility for space vehicles,” he said.

“An option of building there the second launch site for Angara rockets is being considered. It will be similar to that launch site, which is intended for Vostochny Cosmodrome, that is, it will be better than that first launch site, which has already built at Plesetsk Cosmodrome for Angara rocket,” Igor Barmin added.
