Russian Government allocates $142m for roads building in regions

The Prime Minister of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, signed a government decree, according to which 8.7 billion rubles ($142 million) of inter-budgetary transfers for the development of road economy will be allocated to 83 regions.




“This will allow regional budgets to compensate in 2016 shortfall in income in connection with a tax deduction for the transportation tax,” the explanatory note to the document reads.

It is noted that “the money will be spent on measures to improve the road network of the subjects of the Russian Federation, including the construction and repair of important bridges and overpasses”.

Transfers will be distributed among the regions “on the basis of the specific weight of vehicles weighing over 12 tones registered in “Platon” toll roads system, which realizes the function of charging in the account of compensation for the damage caused to the public transport infrastructure”.
