Full ban on construction of effluent treatment plants and tourist facilities on the shores of Lake Baikal negatively affects its condition, the head of the Russian Republic of Buryatia located in Siberia, Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn, announced on Friday.
“Now there is a full ban, what is absolutely wrong. Any reasonable person understands that nothing will come of bans, tourists will keep on coming here. And we have nothing to offer to tourists, no accommodations,” Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn said at a meeting of the Council under the RF Presidential Envoy in the Siberian Federal District in Novosibirsk.
He added that that was the reason, why tourists cut trees and leave garbage in the area.
