About 16 million rubles ($262 million) are planned to be invested in the development of “Gorny Vozdukh” resort located in the Russian Far Eastern city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.




This sum includes 10 billion rubles of funds allocated from the regional budget, the regional Minister of Sports and Youth Policy, Anton Zaitsev, told Interfax news agency.

According to him, the concept of the resort development was approved for the period until the year 2020, and involves the construction of new cable ways and ski slopes.

“It is also encouraging that the status of the advanced development territory allowed us to attract non-budgetary funding sources, thereby, we will also build facilities of tourist infrastructure. At the end of the year we will sign investment agreements worth 3 billion rubles, while a total volume of financing of “Gorny Vozdukh” will amount to about 15-16 billion rubles, 10 billion rubles out of them are the funds from the Sakhalin regional budget”, - the Minister said.

Over the next four years, the number of ski slopes are planned to be increased up to 80 km. Also, six cable ways and such objects of tourist infrastructure as hotels, restaurants and shops, will be built.
