The length of highways in China will increase by 5,000 kilometers in the year 2017, the country’s Transport Ministry told reporters on Tuesday.
According to the adopted plan, 1,8 trillion yuan (over $260 million) will be allocated in the main funds of the automobile and water transport. Aart from highways, these funds will be used to finance the construction or reconstruction of 200,000 kilometers of rural roads, providing 7,000 economically least developed villages with hard-surfaced roads. Moreover, 500 kilometers of river routes will be brought into conformity with the higher standards.
Over the period between January and November, 2,57 trillion yuan have been invested in the transport sector, including a railway, automobile, water and air transport, what is 7,7% higher than the figure of the similar period last year.
