The Federal Road Agency of Russia commissioned scientific research project of motorways as an alternative source of energy and heat, М24.ru reports on Thursday.
Research and development, as well as design and experimental activities are entitled “The development of methodological recommendations on provision of motorways with alternative sources of energy and heat.”
Within the framework of these activities, a possibility of construction of motorways with the use of solar batteries will be considered. The matter is that a road is almost always of a dark color and for this reason it is easily heated by the sun. The experts believe that it would be efficient to convert this heat into electricity.
However, there are troubles. One of them is Russian climate and condition of road network.
