Japan, China and South Korea compete for Dardanelles major construction project

A project envisaging construction a network of roads and suspension bridges over the Dardanelles Straits in Turkey attracted five consortia intended to engage in its implementation, The Global Construction Review reports on Thursday.




The competing teams are comprised of two Korean consortia, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, which will team up with Astaldi of Italy and Turkish contractors Ictas Insaat and Kalyon Insaat, and SK Engineering & Construction, which will be joined by Daelim Industrial, and Limak Insaat and Yapi Merkezi Insaat of Turkey.

Among the participants, there also could be the Itochu Corporation and the IHI Corporation of Japan, which will team up with Turkey’s Nurol Holding and Makyol Insaat.

Also, Sichuan Road and Bridge of China intends to participate in the tender jointly with local partners, while another Chinese company, Road and Bridge International, will join its efforts with Cengiz Insaat and Kolin Insaat.
