The Federal Anti-Monopoly Service of Russia initiated a case against Governor of the Samara region, Nikolai Merkushkin, and employees of Gazprom and regional Ministry of Energy, Housing and Utilities, the statement published on the regulator's website on Wednesday says.

They are suspected in violation of gas transportation in the region. According to the document, The Federal Anti-Monopoly Service of Russia received an application from Srednevolzhskaya Gas Company regarding actions of the regional authorities and companies incorporated in Gazprom, a Russian gas giant.
