Rosatom, a Russian nuclear energy corporation, plans to take part in a tender for construction of a nuclear power plant in the Republic of South Africa, the head of the company, Alexei Likhachev, told reporters.

“We participate in the request for information carried out by South Africa. It will be correct to say so, because this is not an official procedure yet. Afterwards, there will be a preliminary pre-tender bidding and then the act of tender will be. At present, it is a stage of gathering offers and Rosatom actively participate in it,” explained Alexei Likhachev.

As it was reported earlier, in 2016, the Republic of South Africa announced RFI (request for information). At the end of December, South African energy company Eskom announced that it started gathering information for construction of six nuclear reactors in the Republic.
