41.7 bln roubles for “Zenit-Arena” in Saint-Petersburg

The Saint-Petersburg Construction Committee announced that the money for the stadium adaptation to the Football World Championship 2018 are included in the city budget and total 1.9 bln roubles ($31.7m), Russian media report.

As TASS reports with reference to the press office of the Saint-Petersburg Construction Committee, the estimated cost of the “Zenit-Arena” stadium on Krestovsky island in Saint-Petersburg, including the two latest contracts with the general contractor, the “Metrostroy” company, for 3 bln roubles (December contracts for 952m and 2.07 bln) totals 41.7 bln roubles. The sum also includes the surrounding grounds and access control area improving, as well as security system.

The Committee press office also stressed that the sum of about 1.9 bln roubles for the adaptation of the stadium for the Football Championship 2018 is included in the city budget. At the same time they assured that no other contracts with Metrostroy are planned.

To remind you, the stadium was started in 2007, the project was adjusted several times, and each time its cost increased.

The final cost will be calculated before the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2017, as Saint-Petersburg governor, Georgiy Poltavchenko, told journalists while inspecting the course of the stadium construction.

The stadium will hold the matches of the FIFA Confederations Cup -2017 and Football World Championship-2018.
