Investor from Russia is interested in acquisition of the Belgian subsidiary of the U.S. construction equipment manufacturer Caterpillar, La Libre local newspaper reports, without mentioning the name of the entrepreneur.
According to the newspaper, which cites sources in the company’s trade unions, an investor from Russia who is maintaining active contacts with the local authorities, next week intends to visit the branch located near Charleroi in southern Belgium.
The name of the investor has not been revealed, what is known is that he is actively investing in construction projects. It is noted that he is interested in acquisition of infrastructure, as well as the 98-hectare land area itself.
In September 2016, Caterpillar announced that within the framework of the restructuring, it was considering the sale of the Belgian branch and relocation of production in France or outside of Europe.
