French Leroy Merlin builds $68,5m hypermarket in Mariy-El Republic

Leroy Merlin, a French retailer of construction materials and household goods, intends to build a large hypermarket in the Republic of Mariy-El located in the eastern part of the East European Plain of Russia.




As Construction.RU was told today by the press office of the Republican administration, according to the preliminary data, construction activities at the site and equipping the hypermarket with an area of 17,000 square meters will cost 4 billion rubles ($68,5 million). The facility will be located in Yoshkar-Ola, the capital city of the Republic.

After the hypermarket is commissioned, 350 new jobs are expected to be created at the enterprise. It is noteworthy that multi-apartment residential buildings with a total area of 100,000 square meters, a nursery school, sports sites, water, gas and electricity supply systems are planned to be constructed in the vicinity of the projected hypermarket.
