UK needs to insulate 25 million houses until 2050

About 25 million homes in the United Kingdom will not meet the standards of thermal insulation by the middle of this century, according to a report prepared for the UK Parliament.

Experts at the Green Building Council, a group of the largest construction companies, noted that in order to change the situation to the better by the year 2050, the country needed to repair 1.4 homes every minute.

The authors of the report recommend the government to set strict deadlines for the buildings renovation, to introduce “carbon-neutral” standards for real estate since the year 2020, to make energy efficiency one of the priorities for national infrastructure, to elaborate long-term plans to improve performance standards and to oblige owners of commercial buildings to provide the quantity of energy used.
