The authorities of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District of Russia are going to allocate 8.2 billion rubles ($140 million) for the construction of a road bridge across the Ob river, Governor of the region, Dmitry Kobylkin, told reporters on Thursday.

At the end of last year, the Yamal government announced that it would invest in the building of the road part of the bridge across the Ob River in the area of Salekhard. The railway part of the bridge is planned to be built on concession terms.

“It will certainly be a railway and road bridge. The automobile part of the bridge is estimated at 8.2 billion rubles. These are the costs incurred by the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, starting from the moment of construction, approximately 2.2 billion a year. There are companies that are able to build this bridge. It is very complex in its design. You know that Ob has a second bottom, as they say. It's a very complicated project, but, you know, I dream about it sometimes. I think we will implement it”, Kobylkin said.
