Head of RZD Vladimir Yakunin opened a unique plant for thermal treatment of waste for $11.6 m in Yaroslavl.
As he said at the opening ceremony, it is the first and only project for the elimination of poisonous and harmful substances.
The construction of a new complex made it possible to increase the capacity of the scientific and production environment protection centre under RZD management for utilization of dangerous industrial and hospital waste. The complex capacity is 700 kg per hour or 5,460 tons a year. Solid waste such as sand, filings, spent coal, oil-contaminated waste, paint-and-lacquer materials, and mineral oils waste will be processed there.
