The first Russian plant producing electric cars will be soon built in Saint Petersburg.
As Construction.ru was told by the city press office, according to the plan the work on the construction site and the equipment will cost $50m. The production of electric cars with lithium-ion storage batteries will take place there. The project operator is the JSC accumulator company “Rigel”. The development of the project’s feasibility within the 10 years’ payback term has already started.
The plant will initially produce only 1000 automobiles of different types per year.
