Russia and Finland discuss cooperation in construction and design engineering

Russian Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities, Mikhail Menn, held a meeting with ambassador of Finland to Russia, Mikko Hautala, embassy’s minister-counsellor, Joonas Heiskanen, and a representatives of YIT Finnish group of companies.




The parties discussed the cooperation in the field of new technologies and design engineering, as it is stated in the Ministry’s press release.

“We have been cooperating with Finland in the field of construction for a long time. We have determined priorities of bilateral cooperation and interaction regarding a barrier free environment for physically challenged people, urban construction and urban planning, as well as energy efficiency of construction facilities. We are ready to make concerted efforts over wooden house construction,” stressed Mikhail Menn.

He reminded that in December 2015, the first meeting of bilateral working group for construction took place in Helsinki, where a memorandum of intentions between Russian Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities and Finnish Environment Ministry has been signed. A working group was established and responsible persons from both ministries have been determined to facilitate the communication.

Over the course of the meeting, new areas of cooperation were discussed, first of all, in the field of design engineering, application of new technologies, including BIM. Joonas Heiskanen expressed interest in joint development of new space-planning solutions for schools’ and nursery schools’ buildings, as well as introduction of multifunctional rooms in education area.
