World's most modern gas pipeline put in operation in northwest Siberia

On the 18th of January, by the authority of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, a main gas pipeline running from Bovanenkovo to Ukhta-2 was put in operation on the Yamal Peninsula.




President Putin kicked the start of the pipeline via videoconferencing.
Gazprom CEO, Alexey Miller, and Governor of the Yamal-Nenets autonomous district of northwest Siberia, Russia, Dmitry Kobylkin, took part in the ceremony. According to Alexey Miller, this is one of tmost modern main gas pipelines in the world.
Its construction was launched in 2012. Its raw materials base are Bovanenkovskoye and Kharasaveyskoye fields, which are the largest ones on the Yamal Peninsula. Explored gas reserves have reached there 4,9 trillion cubic meters.
Now, a new powerful transportation corridor for gas supplies both to Russia and abroad has emerged on a gas map of Russia. In particular, it will include Nord Stream-2 supplies.
